Filed under: Bridal Blog,DIY Weddings — WeddingGirl @ 1:34 pm

{ meet Jennifer }

She loves her husband and 2 beautiful kiddies.

She loves Earl Grey tea.

She loves comfy pairs of jogging pants.

She wishes she was Martha Stewart (and we’re convinced she’s not far off!)

She loves all things sparkly.

She LOVES weddings – planning, organizing, creating – all of it.

… and we are so lucky to have her!!

{ a match made in wedding planning heaven }

At our most recent Starbucks date, Jenn and I realized we have no idea how she ended up friends with the WeddingGirl Dot Ca profile on Facebook – but as fate would have it, it really was a match made in wedding planning heaven!

Jenn is super-motivated, crazy-inspired, and totally talented. I loved hearing about all the fabulous DIY goodies she’d created for her own wedding as well as for friends who have recently gotten married (check out these gorgeous hand-made escort cards she created!)

{ our own Little Miss DIY }

Starting next week, Jennifer will be WG’s own Little Miss DIY – with weekly blogs on how to create gorgeous wedding details on a budget.

You’ll even be able to find some of her cute creations for sale in the Shops @ WG!

{ plans, plans, plans }

A few lucky WG brides will also have Jenn join their wedding planning team – so everything from cakes to flowers and beyond –  their plans will have a touch of her fabulous flair!

 So excited to have you on board – welcome to WG, Jenn!

Hanging Votive Candle Wedding Decor | wholesale shopping at The Shops @ WG

{ hanging votives }

Nothing tops romantic ambiance like hanging candlelight above your wedding decor.

{ tips from a Wedding Planner }

Hanging decor may be stunningly beautiful, but is often quite tricky to orchestrate properly.

1) Make sure to consider the weight of what you’re hanging and whether your supporting structures can maintain it.

2) Keep in mind that most venues do not allow you to suspend anything from their ceiling, so confirm that your decorator is equipped with the experience and materials needed to create a supporting structure.

3) Artificial candlelight or LED lighting may be the safer alternative to real candles inside hanging decor

4) What goes up, must come down! If all goes well, your hanging decor won’t come down prematurely – but it will need to be removed at the end of your function (so account for this in your itinerary!)

Will You(tube)? :: the year of YouTube marriage proposals

Filed under: Bridal Blog,Getting Engaged — Tags: — WeddingGirl @ 8:12 pm

Inspired by an article found Toronto.com

{ Will You? }

We’ve all seen the links posted on our friends’ Facebook walls and showcased on morning talkshows and in local papers – the phenomenon of sharing one of like’s most traditionally intimate moments, a marriage proposal, with the world!

From live proposals on primetime television (like the live marriage proposal on So You Think You Can Dance) to everyday Joe’s and their brides-to-be turning into overnight YouTube Sensations – proposals are going viral!

In the past, brides have been considered lucky to have had a camera on hand to document their proposal, and others have over-the-moon if their groom planned to have the proposal captured by photographers or a videographer from afar… but today, “Will You?” has turned into a Hollywood affair.

Today, some of the most sensational marriage proposals on YouTube showcase crazy choreography, nail-biting plots, and spectacular scripting.

According to Toronto.com, here are some of the best YouTube proposals of 2011:

{ Occupy My Life }

Chanting Occupiers help make this proposal “big enough to demonstrate [the groom's] love for [his bride], for all [she is] and all [she] believes in” !

{ just another afternoon of skating }

What’s become known as The Most Creative Marriage Proposal EVER!!!! - an outdoor skating party turns into Happily Ever After for this lucky couple!

{ the Movie Trailer }

… and she thought she was just going to see a movie with a friend!

{ a six year plan }

These guys wanted to prove that for the past six years, they always knew!

{ a Disney flashmob }

Bruno Mars says it best, “I think I wanna marry you!”

{ a true Hollywood story }

Complete with an unidentified woman, a security escort, and a cast of hundreds!

{ blue skies ahead! }

There’s nothing like a live proposal during a weather forecast!

{ a dramatic beginning }

There’s nothing like scaring the wits out of your girlfriend before she agrees to spend the rest of her life with you! (good thing he had the forethought to stage two cameras and provide us with a splitscreen)

{ the worst proposal ever? }

Is there really such thing as the worst proposal ever? Apparently this one doesn’t rank amongst the highest… but she still said yes!

{ it all began on NYE }

I guess it was Paul and Danielle who kicked off the 2011 YouTube marriage proposal trend with their special moment videotaped at a New Year’s Eve party in California. Definitely the most amazing way to make it a memorable night!

Regardless of whether there’s a camera crew and a cast of hundreds, or just the two of you in your pyjamas, a marriage proposal is less about the glitz and glamour, and more about the outward symbol of a personal commitment you’ve already made to one another….. although, the story is always great to have!

Congratulations to all these happy couples!

May 2012 bring them even more love, laughter, and Happily Ever After!

Vintage + Rustic meets Modern + Chic with {Lush Floral Design}

{ Vintage + Rustic + Modern + Chic }

Every season there are a few weddings that stick in your mind.  Whether it be the colours, the flower choices, the relationship you form with the couple or the theme; it leaves a lasting impression on you.  For Lush Florals this season, it was all of these things combined to create the perfect spring wedding for Andrea and Jeremy.  Afterglow Images captured the lovely ambiance of the day, which took place at the Ancaster Old Mill, perfectly!

Like a lot of brides getting married in June, Andrea wanted peonies.  She chose to incorporate this gorgeous bloom into her yellow, grey, white and purple colour scheme.  She had a vintage, but modern and rustic wedding theme…make sense?  Yellow craspedia (billy balls) and grey echiveria provided the modern, yellow garden roses, peonies and dusty miller added the vintage, while pops of purple moonvista carnations gave contrast.

The gentlemen complimented their grey suits with echiveria and craspedia boutonnieres

Andrea and Jeremy’s ceremony was held in the garden at the Old Mill.  The arbour was accented with architectural arrangements of mitsumata, hydrangea, stock and button mums (there is your modern).  Hanging aisle markers in teal vintage mason jars led the bride down the aisle.

For the reception held in the Millview room Lush re-used the aisle markers along with low arrangments in rustic white washed containers for each table.

Lush would like to wish this amazing couple a lifetime of happiness!  Every moment from planning to executing this wedding was enjoyable.
