ShutterBrugs Photography meets WeddingGirl.ca | at Valvano Salon Spa!

If you’re from the Niagara region, you’ve likely driven by the beautiful castle-like building on Welland Avenue – the one usually showcasing some super couture promo images of the amazing work their team does at transforming ordinary into style. Valvano Salon Spa is a full service salon and day spa run by a team of expert stylists and estheticians, and their work speaks for itself!

Tony, David, Julia, April, and Kayla were the stylists behind creating our most recent WeddingGirl.ca promo shoot look, and Mandie from ShutterBrugs was there to capture it all!

So all of this hard work was put in to prepare for a stylish new promotional photoshoot with the fabulously talented Rick Denham…. and here’s a sneak peek of what he captured! (stay tuned for the full promo shoot blog tomorrow!)

ShutterBrugs Photography | So French. So Chic. “Fash The Dress” photoshoot

{ who: Mandie Charlton }

I recently had the pleasure of being introduced to the amazing Mandie from Shutterbrugs Photography and fell completely in love with her!

When I meet brides for the first time, I’m often told my enthusiasm is contagious… and Mandie is the exact same way! You can’t help but get excited about all-things-photography with this girl in the room!

{ what: Fash The Dress }

While we have seen the latest trend of shooting a  Trash The Dress session after you say “I Do”, allow Mandie to be the first photog to introduce the concept of Fash The Dress to WeddingGirl.ca!

Instead of stomping in puddles and playing in the mud, some brides are now opting to stage a couture portrait session to showcase their style, their man, their new bling, and ofcourse, their fabulous frocks!

{ where: rustic rural }

A wooded rural property, blanketed in the whimsical romance of glistening snow, provided the perfect backdrop for Mandie’s So French. So Chic. creative portraiture session.

{ blog love }

A bit of WG love is extended to everyone who helped Mandie make this amazing Fash The Dress shoot possible:

Photography: ShutterBrugs

Hair: Aja from the Cutting Edge in Milton

Flowers: Jessica from Fleurish Design Studio

Hair accessories: Kalee from Frilly Bits

Make-up: Marissa Cummins

Cake: J’adore Cake Co.

{ sneak peek }

So, the reason why I was lucky enough to stumble upon Mandie was because the fabulous Rick Denham and I just took some new WeddingGirl.ca promotional photos together, and Mandie was his sidekick (and our comedic relief!) for the day!

Here’s a quick peek of what’s in store tomorrow c/o ShutterBrugs + WG!

Phase III starts today! | Only 6 finalists remain in our Wedding Day Threesome Contest!

Yesterday, Rick, Jay and Mary reviewed all the Wedding Day Threesome contest submissions and narrowed down our selections to a final six couples!

A huge congratulations goes out to Jen + Ned, Melinda + Mike, Kate + Riley, Brenda + Chris, Nicole + Jose, and Vanessa and Dave!! We absolutely loved the entries from these guys. Some couples gave us short + sweet, others gave us pages and pages. Some couples made us online slideshows, others made us Powerpoint presentations. One couple even supported their story using quotes from interviews with members of their family and wedding party! All in all, while we tried to narrow it down to three, ultimately we knew that all 6 of these brides and all 6 of these grooms deserved to make it to our final Phase of the Threesome contest. And here they are!

Today, we have the Phase III instructions from which we will select our $10,000 Wedding Day Threesome winner – and we can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with!

On a side note, we want to let everyone know that we’ve decided none of our Phase III Finalists go home empty-handed, so keep that in mind when you’re scurrying around!

Ladies and Gentlemen… Phase III is a Wedding Threesome photo shoot!

{Threesome Photoshoot | People + Places + Things}

People

1) Wedding Party

-       Take a photo to show us what your first night on your honeymoon would look like if your entire wedding party was in the room with you (nothing X-rated, please!)

2) Family

-       Create a Wedding Day family photo at your nearest famous landmark (using whatever definition of “family” you’d like!)

3) Threesome

-       Take a photo of your wedding day threesome

Places

1) Another Wedding

-       This one might be tricky, but we have faith in you! We want you to take a picture of yourselves with a bride and groom at THEIR wedding (proof of the date must be included!)

2) The Scene of the (original) Crime

-       Recreate your proposal scene, in costume

3) The Scene of the (soon-to-be) Crime

-      Give us a picture of what your ceremony will look like if the bride was the groom, and the groom was the bride

Things

1) The Dress

-       Take the dress that the groom wore in your ceremony role-reversal photo, and alter it into something the (real) bride would wear on her wedding night (please keep the photo clean!)

2) The Cake

-       Show us your best rendition of a Do-It-Yourself wedding cake created strictly by yourself and the groom. (if you have cake making talents, then…… do it blind-folded with your hands tied behind your back!) Note: the groom MUST be involved! (we all know it tends to be the brides with all the decorative talents!)

3) The Ring

-       Recreate your engagement ring to fit a giant (and submit it with a photo of your actual ring!)

{ Instructions }

So now that you know what we’re looking for, here are the details!

You have three weeks to complete your Wedding Threesome Photo Shoot.

You must upload all your photos to a Facebook Page entitled  ”_______________ + _________________’s Wedding Threesome Photo Shoot” and send all three of us the link to join.

If you will be inviting your friends and family to LIKE your page, please include the following disclaimer:

“These pictures were taken as part of the Rick Denham, Captivate Cinema, and WeddingGirl.ca $10,000 Wedding Day Threesome Contest. Please do not repost these pictures without written permission from (Bride’s name) and (Groom’s name)”. This will prevent contestants from “borrowing” your work if you happen to be done sooner than they are!

If your friends are family are wondering what the heck you’re up to, here are the links to the Introductory Contest blog, as well as to today’s Instruction Blog. Feel free to include these on your page!

All Facebook pages must be created, and photos must be uploaded by 11:59 p.m. on Monday, April 4th, 2011. How many LIKES your page gets won’t directly affect your chances of winning, but it doesn’t hurt for us to see who the popular vote goes to!

Most importantly: BE CREATIVE!!!

Happy Shooting!

Add some WOW to your wedding! | reception entertainment ideas

While planning so many different weddings with so many unique couples, we’re always looking for ways to be creative and make their wedding reception their own. It’s always fun to showcase our couples’ personalities in quirky and memorable ways – to make sure that their guests never forget THEIR wedding!

Some couples choose to be unique with their venue. Others look for memorable wedding favours to give away. What we’ve personally found to be among the most memorable pieces of a wedding puzzle is the reception entertainment you provide your guests. Beyond exquisite food and a stocked bar, one thing that never ceases to amaze your party-goers is an unexpected “performance” of some sort – and we’ve been lucky enough to see some amazing examples of exactly this!

Here are some of our favourite ways to add some WOW to your wedding reception!

{ Shanyn Pollard – Aerial Flair }

We love Shanyn and her silks performances! (which can be set up at almost any venue!)

{ Hot Carl – Fire Artist }

We definitely felt the heat with this fire performance at Darci and Susan’s wedding last September!

{ Dance Performances }

{ Live Music  }

It’s Phase II day! | Win a Wedding Day Threesome – $10,000 Wedding Contest

Happy Monday everyone!

So it’s been an absolutely crazy three weeks since Monday, February 14th when Rick Denham Photography, Captivate Bridal Cinema, and our WG team launched our Wedding Day Threesome contest – a $10,000 Photography + Cinema + Planning / Coordination giveaway. If you missed the details a few weeks ago, check them out here!

So many couples have been frantically recruiting their Facebook friends to Add + Like + Join the WG Profile, the Denham Photography Page, and the Captivate Cinema Group and we are so excited to meet the brides and grooms who are moving on in our contest and getting one step closer to winning their  threesome with us!

W3 – Phase II – SUBMIT

Who | What | Why

Today marks the official launch of Phase II of our Three-Part threesome contest…… Who? What? Why?

{ who }

We want to love who we’re having a threesome with. If you’re one of the couples who is successfully moving ahead in our contest, we want to know who you are!

We want to hear all about the two of you: your names, your ages, your shoe sizes  (… okay, well, maybe not your shoe sizes) – who you are, what you do – we want to know about you!

We’re picky about our threesome and we’re looking for the most fabulous twosome to join us!

{ what }

Once you’ve told us all about who you are (and we mean ALL about who you are!) then we want to know what makes your wedding different.

When and where are you getting married? Why did you pick there? How many people are coming? What colours are we going to see? Any wicked / wacky / fabulous themes? What makes yours different? What’s going to happen that will knock our socks off?

We want to hear all about the stage our threesome will be set on!

{ why }

Finally, once we’ve heard who and what, we want to know why.

Why do you want to have a wedding threesome? Why do you want Rick and Jay and Mary to capture, captivate, and coordinate your wedding? Why should we pick you to join us? (please keep this one to 300 words!)

Once you have compiled your Who  + What + Why email, send it over to us.

Send your Threesome Submission emails (with supporting photos…. appropriate ones!)

to all three of us (Rick + Jay + Mary).

In one week, on Monday March 14,

we’re announcing the FINAL THREE couples that will move on to Phase III!

(final email submissions must be received by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, March 13th)

We can’t wait to meet you!

(make sure to follow all the instructions! missing information will be counted as an incomplete submission and will be disqualified – as per the legal team)
