Favours for a cause… | Thing-A-Ma-Boobs | bridal party gifts, bridal shower favors …

Happy Tuesday everyone!

{the inspiration}

Yesterday’s blog post inspired hundreds of visits, and dozens of comments. I brought it up in conversation with one of my favourite vendors, and a dear friend, who actually reminded me of something I’d planned to look into months ago! (Thanks, Anne!)

Back in April, WG Bride Gillian got married (you may know her as the black/white damask and hot pink bride!) and told me about Thingamaboobs. I believe she gave them away at her bridal shower or to her bridal party… and I was tickled pink! Yesterday, I stopped into the Canadian Cancer Society’s office in Niagara and met Tanya, who was incredibly helpful at sharing all kinds of information with me. Now, I share it with all of you!

{the details}

According to the Canadian Cancer Society’s website:

Thingamaboob is a funky yet educational key chain that shows women how important screening is in the early detection of breast cancer.

The Thingamaboob is made of clear, pink beads that show women the different lump sizes that can be detected through a variety of breast-screening methods.

Money raised from the sale of the Thingamaboob funds important cancer research into preventing and finding a cure for cancer and helps provide support services for people living with cancer.

{favours | gifts}

Thingamaboobs have been redesigned a few times. The original version was available for a donation of $5.00 to the Canadian Cancer Society, and the new ones can be ordered online and through the Society directly for a donation of $10.00 (they come in a fancy little gift box with information on the keychain itself, breast screening processes, and a Pass-It-On campaign to make sure you share the information with others).

While I picked up a couple of the original purple ones to give away to special women in my own life, Tanya was kind enough to share one of the new pink ones with me. Immediately I knew what a powerful message this little keychain could share with all my WG readers and all the women in THEIR lives. While slightly more pricey than the typical wedding guest favour, Thingamaboobs would make amazingly powerful bridal shower gifts, or attachments to a bridesmaid’s thank you gift! – in line with my recent blog post on favours for a cause, this Thingamaboob certainly plays its part in raising awareness.

{giveaway}

For all these reasons, I’ve decided to do my part in sharing the information!

WeddingGirl.ca is giving away thingamaboobs to each bridesmaids of one special WG bride. If you’d like to give your girls this fabulous gift of awareness,  email me today at info{at}weddinggirl{dot}ca with the name and story of someone you knows who has been afflicted by breast cancer. (Please include your name, wedding date, wedding location, and number of bridesmaids!). One email will be chosen at random, first thing tomorrow morning (Wednesday, November 24th) and announced on tomorrow’s blog!

If you’d like to purchase a Thingamaboob for yourself, please contact your local Canadian Cancer Society office, or visit their website to order online.
